Street Styles trend round up: Knitwear and Checks!

By Charlene Bent

We headed over to Rushden Lakes on the hunt for fashions finest and we spotted the local fash-pack out in full force sporting this seasons trends. The fashion week shows across the capitals may have been cancelled due to Covid-19 but that did not stop Northamptonshire putting on the ultimate show.  All gathered at the No.1 retail destination, dressed to impress and camera ready for us to snap up their hot looks, the shoppers at Rushden Lakes nodded to their favourite trends as the Style News team secured their positions on the front row.

KNITWEAR MUST HAVES

Set to make this the biggest global street style campaign, one of the most popular looks we noted was knitwear. Nothing says autumn/winter like the combination of soft knitwear and leather accessories, a pop of colour on a jumper to brighten up a grey day and knitwear separates with jersey co-ords for super chic loungewear.

CHECK PARADE

We had a huge reality check with all the heritage prints we spotted. The parade of tartans, houndstooth’s, ginghams and Prince of Wales checks was all the rage. One of the stores onsite that paid homage to the look across their visual merchandising and extensive offering was New Look. We caught up with their VM Annie onsite, to get her take on the seasonal collection.

“We’ve got a lot of check prints and dogtooth style and thicker coats that you can dress up or down with a jumper, which can also be paired with mum jeans. Another big trend we have is leather and leather look trousers, that you can wear on a night out, until 10 of course!”

Annie continued, “We have so much variety and if we do not have the size you are looking for, we are happy to order it in. Plus, it’s free delivery.”

Across the park in Moss Bros, store manager Grant filled us in on why they are the authority on the tailoring approach to the must have trend. “Big thing for us now in terms of fashion, is tweed. It is our new campaign that has just been launched and it is a new twist on the formal look. It is all about mixing and matching, being a bit more daring and showing that individuality and bringing out that inner style.”

Grant continued, “One of the big things for us here at Moss Bros at Rushden Lakes is our service, it’s pretty much a one to one. We pride ourselves on the way we bring ourselves into the customers lives, we like to spend our time advising. It is like a personal shopper style. We will measure you up and make sure you have everything you need, all within the confines of our store and doing it Covid-19 safe. Our fitting rooms are sanitised, and everything is steamed before putting stock back on the shop floor, for your safety. We want you to have the best possible experience.”

Spoilt for choice on check prints with this heritage brand, we were at the right destination to roundup some formal menswear essentials to rock the look.
